Welcome to
The Year of Science!

In 2009 the world will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth, the 150th anniversary of his publication of On the Origin of Species, and the 400th anniversary of the publication of Kepler’s first two laws of planetary motion. To mark these events the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, and more than 400 other organizations have declared 2009 a Year of Science, a national year-long celebration designed to engage the public in science and to enhance public understanding of the nature and processes of science.

The University of Connecticut was the first university in the country to join the Year of Science effort.

UConn Stamford will embark on a celebratory journey to explore and share the many ways science impacts our lives and our future. This website is your guide to events, information, pictures, articles, resources, games and videos.

Many thanks to our generous sponsor Purdue Pharma!
