Welcome by the Assistant Director/Enrollment
Services
It is my pleasure to welcome you first to our
website and soon, I hope, to the University of
Connecticut Stamford campus itself. I have been
working at this beautiful new facility since December
1999. From state of the art computer labs to the
exciting DNA experiments done in freshman year
biology, we are ahead of the competition. Be prepared
to be surprised and impressed by all that is offered
to you right here in downtown Stamford.
I know that choosing a college and a major is
one of the biggest decisions a person can make.
There are books, workshops and a myriad of websites
for you to explore that will try to guide and advise
you. In addition, your parents, friends, school
administrators, and others will offer helpful advice.
And of course, most college viewbooks and websites
stress how their programs will help you prepare
for the world of work and for the world outside
your job. In short, you will probably never have
so much information at your disposal to make one
decision ever again in your life.
My advice is to read and listen and evaluate as
much of this material as you can. But in reality,
be assured that it is okay to be undecided about
a career choice for at least your whole first year.
Many students enter the University of Connecticut
as undecided
or ACES. There are also many advantages to
starting your education close to home. These include
cost savings, the intimacy of a small campus with
resources of a major university, and the support
of having family and friends nearby. |
