The Biology Program at UConn Stamford
We offer a two semester course for majors (Principles of Biology, Biology 1107 and Biology 1108) and a 1 semester course in General Botany (Biology 1110). In addition, we also offer a non-science majors course, Foundations of Biology (Biology 1102).
Many University students use our non-science majors course to fulfill their general education requirements in a laboratory science. We also offer a variety of upper level biology courses including General Ecology (EEB 2244), Biology of Vertebrates (EEB 2214), Biology of the Algae (EEB 2290), Human Genetics (MCB 2410) and Microbiology (MCB 2610). Each of the advanced courses may be used to fulfill the requirements of a general biology major or one of the other majors in the life science departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or in the School of Agriculture. Persons planning on taking the MCAT or other health-related standardized tests are well served by the courses offered at the Stamford Campus.
The Stamford Campus has excellent laboratory facilities for teaching and research. With small class sizes and easier access to faculty, the Program prides itself in offering the introductory student a strong introductory program to modern biology.
