Center Mission

The mission of the Center for Globalization and Commerce at the UCONN Stamford Campus is to establish an academic research center that will enable University of Connecticut faculty and students to engage in research and scholarship related to global and international issues in all academic disciplines, with an emphasis in business and commerce, in partnership with the Stamford Chamber of Commerce. The Center’s focus will be at the Stamford regional campus, where there will be access to multinational businesses and corporations, and a growing international and immigrant population, and where resources are readily going to be provided by the Stamford Chamber of Commerce.

Center Goals

To provide University of Connecticut faculty opportunities for exchange and research collaborations with academic institutions and colleagues globally, working in tandem with the administrative resources of the Storrs Campus;

To provide University of Connecticut students with opportunities to engage in fieldwork and internships, and to offer career development opportunities, utilizing the networking resources of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and the administrative resources of the Storrs Campus;

To create a teaching/learning environment where workshops, seminars and lectures would be offered to University of Connecticut faculty, staff and students and for professional/staff development for business/community members in the City of Stamford and Fairfield County, and utilizing both University of Connecticut faculty and staff, and business/corporate experts of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and /or other persons affiliated with the Chamber;

To serve as a community resource center, with library and digital access focal points, that will assist faculty, staff and students and business/corporate sector in exploring and understanding globalization and commerce;

To develop partnerships and collaborations, and to build bridges with global partners in industry, business, government, education and commerce in the City of Stamford and the communities of Fairfield County.
