Welcome to UConn Stamford
| Welcome to the University of Connecticut Stamford
Campus. Located in downtown Stamford, Connecticut,
the campus is steps away from major corporate headquarters
such as Pitney Bowes, General Electric and UBS,
performing arts centers including the Palace Theatre
and Rich Forum, close to 75 restaurants, and shopping,
highlighted by the Stamford Town Mall, with
100 fine shops featuring Saks Fifth Avenue and
Macy’s, all of which are easily accessible
by train, car and bus. |

It has been two years since I assumed the leadership
of the UConn Stamford Campus and I am very proud
of the students, staff and faculty, and their commitment
to excellence in and out of the classroom. The
students are engaged learners who are motivated
to attain success in their chosen professions.
They are supported in their efforts by the most
dedicated faculty and staff that I have worked
with during my 20 years in higher education administration.
UConn Stamford is the top choice of students in
Fairfield County, including the first valedictorian
to start her studies at the Stamford Campus this
year. Offering four-year undergraduate programs,
and with an Honors Program that engages students
in seminar discussions, our programs of study provide
10 academic majors that you can begin and finish
at the Stamford Campus, complemented by graduate
degrees (MBA and EMBA), and professional development
programs through the Connecticut Information Technology
Institute. The campus offers traditional-aged
students, returning adults, professionals in the
workforce, transfer students and lifelong learners
a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences that
complements our professional preparation curriculum.
In an attempt to better prepare our students for
the global economy, the Stamford Campus recently
established the Center for Globalization and Commerce.
The Center’s goals are threefold: (1) to
conduct empirical research in conjunction with
the Fairfield County business community; (2) to
offer global internships for UConn students; and
(3) to present lectures and symposia on contemporary
global issues and topics.
In addition to the new Center, we work to sustain
the quality and excellence of the academic programs
that are offered at the Stamford Campus. We provide
classrooms and laboratories with contemporary equipment
and computers. Our students are provided
with scholarships based upon merit and financial
need to pay for tuition, fees and books, offered
opportunities to engage in undergraduate and graduate
research that benefits local communities; and given
opportunities for student engagement through the
Honors Program, Student Government Association
and Service-Learning.
It is for all of these reasons that the UConn
Stamford Campus attracts students from throughout
Southwestern Connecticut and international students
from throughout the world. I encourage you
to explore the opportunities for personal and professional
enhancements that UConn Stamford can offer to you. You’ll
be surprised to see all that happens beyond our
dramatic concourse. We look forward to meeting
you and serving you.
