For Students

  • Freshman English
  • Writing Tutoring:

The Writing Center is located in the Jeremy Richard Library. This location enables UConn Stamford students to receive assistance in writing skills enhancement in an accessible location.  When students enter the Jeremy Richard Library, they should proceed towards the right corner section of the library, where they will find the Writing Center.

UConn Stamford students will be able to sign up for tutorial services at the Information Desk on the Concourse starting in the second week of the Fall '09 semester.  They also may call 251-8400 to request appointments by telephone. The Writing Center will offer appointments during the week that range from 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  A detailed schedule of availability will available at the Information Desk or by clicking HERE. Walk-in appointments are also available on a first come first served basis.

When you arrange an appointment with one of our tutors, please be sure to bring the assignment sheet or your professor’s instructions. It’s not necessary to have a finished paper to work with. Our tutors are available to help you with every stage of the writing process from brainstorming to revision.

Our tutors are NOT proofreaders that will edit your work while you wait; rather, they will help you develop your writing skills and the ability to effectively revise and edit your own work.

You don’t have to work alone on your writing skills. Everyone can benefit from feedback and conversations with a qualified writing consultant.

Please feel free to e-mail our Coordinator of Writing, Serkan Gorkemli, with any questions: serkan.gorkemli@uconn.edu

  • How I Write: Conversations with Writers - Held in Spring Semesters

How I Write: Conversations with Writers is a series of conversations with UCONN faculty who are experienced in academic writing in their relative disciplines. All types of writing, however, are open topics for discussion. The goal of the series is to bring together these writers, UCONN students, and the Stamford community members to discuss research and writing process, and learn about how
writing is done differently and/or similarly in different areas of study.
FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
